Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to participate in Canoe The Thames though for the moment we are limiting the number of places to 25. This is due to there being limited space on the support boat for participants' gear. If however we are inundated with people wanting to join us then, in the words of Roy Schneider in Jaws, we're gonna need a bigger boat.

Unfortunately entry for 2009 is now closed but if you would like to learn a little more about the event then read on...

What it costs

The registration fee is £289 and covers everthing you'll need for the event:

- Accomodation for the 8 days of the trip (you'll need to bring a tent, or will have to arrange to share one)

- Food - Breakfast, lunch and dinner for the entire trip. To find out more click here .

- A handmade flat-pack origami canoe. This will be yours to take home after the event.

- A 2 part canoe paddle

- A Canoe The Thames T shirt

- Maps of the route.

and your fee also covers the cost of the support boat which will carry your gear.

If you are already have a buoyancy aid then your fee will be reduced to  £272, if you have your own paddle it will be reduced to £266, if you have both then it will be reduced to £249!

If you want to join us then we will require a £50, non-refundable deposit. You will receive an email requesting this shortly after you register. The balance will then be due by mid July. This balance would be refunded should the event have to be cancelled.

The event fee is to cover the cost of organising the event and should be paid for by you and not your sponsors.

It is not our intention for participants to be sponsored for doing the event and using their sponsorship to pay for the trip, with the excess going to charity. Whilst we understand that this is often the case with charity events we would rather it was not the case with ours. We would prefer that ALL of your sponsorship went to the charity of your choice.
