Canoe the Thames is not just an excuse for 8 days of messing about on a river it is also a great opportunity to raise money for charity.

In order to participate in the Canoe The Thames trip you will be expected to raise a significant amount of money for charity. We suggest a guide figure of about £500 each is a good starting target but feel free to raise more. To download a sponsorship form  click here . Whilst we cannot enforce a minimum sponsorship rest assured that should you raise significantly less than £500 you may well be in line for a dunking in the Thames as a punishment.

As Canoe The Thames is not affiliated to any particular charity you are free to raise money for the charity of your choice. Once you've chosen a charity it may be worth getting in touch with them as they may be able to help you in getting sponsorship. You should add details of your chosen charity to your participant profile (see the registered user instructions ), you could also add links to your charity's website.

We're hoping that getting sponsorship should be really quite easy. Not only should it appeal to friends and family but also to companies and businesses. The event will be receiving significant press and media coverage and company logos can be displayed on your canoes and you could add their logo to your event t-shirt. For more information on using logos on your canoe or T-shirt click here.

Should you need to approach companies for sponsorship and would like to use a sample letter you can download one from here

Canoe The Thames is also looking for sponsorship for the whole event from various sources, including suppliers of materials, camp sites, pubs on the route etc and their logos will be emblazoned on the side of the canoes. For more information please have a look at the Sponsor Us page
