Part of your registration money will go towards food, we all have to eat after all.
Canoe The Thames will provide three meals a day. We will try to vary things as much as possible and a menu will be posted closer to the time so that any major objections can be flagged up before we set off.
The food will be included in the fee but sadly a chef is not. Instead we will all take turns to cook. There will be a rota handed out at the start of the trip and it will be your responsibility to make sure you do your bit. It will tell you what to cook and everyone will get introduced to the cooking gear. The majority of the food will be on the support boat from the start and fresh bits and bobs will be bought along the route. The rota responsibilities will be8.AM - Breakfast cook 8 AM - Lunch/snack prepare 9-9.30 AM - breakfast cleanup Then in the evening, depending on what time we arrive 6-7PM Dinner prepare 9 PM Dinner cleanup
Breakfast will be bacon sarnies, egg sarnies, toast (maybe) or cereal and some fruit. Tea and coffee will also be on the go, as will cartons of juice. We might have the odd mega breakfast though this will depend on the budget. Lunch will be pretty basic, we'll generally be stopping at a pub so there will be the chance to get extra food if you need. The packed lunch/snackbag will be Sandwich, piece of fruit, nuts/crisps, chocky bar. You will have to top up your drink bottle before we set off in the morning. The evening meal will be something hot. A barbie, spag bol, bangers and mash etc. Comfort food. We'll try to have a salad available too, and a bit of bread. There might even be the odd pudding if you're very good.
If you have any special dietary requirements we will do our best to accommodate you. Though if you are a fruitarian or rawist you'll probably not have the energy to survive the trip so you'd better just stay at home, like you presumably do anyhow.
In addition to these meals some of you may choose to buy the odd pub lunch or dinner, feel free. Should you choose to I'm afraid we will not be able to discount the cost of the meal you've missed as it will just get too complicated. Sorry. |
